Strategies of active longevity discussed at Central Federal District Interregional Forum

A senior fellow of Russian Institute for Advanced Study Sholokhov University Dmitry Chizhov spoke with a report at the Open inter-regional forum «Life strategies and social practices of active longevity of Russian senior citizens of (third age)».

The event took place in the city of Ples, Ivanovo region and was attended by the Deputy RF Presidential Envoy to the Central Federal District Irina Potekhina, also by heads of institutions implementing projects of active longevity on the territory of the Central Federal District regions.

The Forum became the final event of the social project «Life strategies and social practices of active longevity of Russian senior citizens of (third age)», which included a scale sociological study conducted in the regions of the Central Federal District.

Deputy RF Presidential Envoy to the Central Federal District Irina Potekhina noted that the issues raised at the forum, are relevant today for the whole world. «Our challenge is to involve senior people in employment and economic processes. In addition, we will solve the problems of social, physical, cultural and leisure activities of people of the third age «- she underlined.

The basic Forum report was given by a senior fellow of Russian Institute for Advanced Study Sholokhov University, supervisor of the social project, PhD in Political Sciences Dmitry Chizhov. The report was dedicated to the presentation of the social project as well as to the main outcomes of the research study. In his speech, he outlined the main results of the unique sociological research, which promotes the development of new mechanisms to develop active longevity of the citizens of the third age, solves the problems of employment and social activity of senior people to maintain their sense of relevance, social significance and utility. The study covered such aspects of life of the older generation, as labor, social, cultural, recreational and physical activities, health issues, social well-being, state support and many others.

In the framework of the Forum there were presented projects of social protection of -Ivanovo region, of regional public institutions, of business representatives. The issues of development of this area in other regions of Central Federal District were reported by representatives of Vladimir, Moscow, Yaroslavl regions, the city of Moscow. The Forum participants were presented to the socially significant project, the results of the study, the specialized Web site «Active Longevity» www.aktivdolgoletie.ru, as well as pages on social networks dedicated to this topic.

Summing up, the Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Forum, director of the youth and social programs Olga Fedoseyeva said that on the results of the event there would be issued a collection of the best social practices of active longevity, and she also proposed to adopt a resolution of the Forum, which summarizes the recommendations voiced during the preparation and conduct of open interregional Forum for active longevity.
