Volunteers of Sholokhov Moscow State University for the Humanities have been awarded with a three-day trip to Belarus. The program included visiting Brest, Minsk and Khatyn.

Being a volunteer is difficult. You — need a lot of free time, moral and physical forces, but is at the same time fascinating and, the most important thing, useful. The center of youth of the University has encouraged volunteers for their good deeds with a trip to Belarus.

In the center of Brest is the memorial complex: the remains of the Brest fortress, a memory museum, a communal grave and — eternal fire. «Each meter here is a certificate of the past, fights took place here and every piece of earth is — a museum!» Visiting this complex is very important for Russian because it is history of our country and nobody has the right to forget it. On June, 22nd, 1941 fascist aggressors perfidiously intruded on the territory of Brest. Our soldiers managed to keep defense of the Brest fortress within a month and without having surrendered, had shown outstanding military valor.

Having said goodbye to Brest, we went to the capital of Belarus – the city of Minsk. This city fascinated with strange, but absolutely irresistible charm. Wide prospectuses and streets set of palaces and magnificent parks in the city center are attributes of capital luxury. And at the same time it’s a city of — pleasant atmosphere of provincial regularity and calmness reigns.

On the last day the volunteers visited a memorial complex Khatyn. This complex was created in memory of hundreds of Belorussian villages destroyed by Nazis during the days of the Great Patriotic War and the huge contribution of the Belorussian people brought incalculable victims for the sake of victory. On March, 22nd, 1943 inhabitants of the village Khatyn that assisted guerrillas, were burned alive by the Nazi army.

Therefore full of new impressions, with a set of souvenirs and photos we — returned to the capital city. And the sunny April weather of Moscow was a remarkable gift to us too!
