“The most interesting time for higher education”. Press conference in RIA Novosti

“The most interesting time for higher education” – this was the phrase to open the press conference of Sholokhov MSU for the Humanitites in RIA Novosti. Our University presents its own academic works, which have no analogues in Russia.
Frequently new innovative projects appear during difficult, crisis times, serving as an impulse to development of something new, necessary and promising. We mention, that in 2011 Sholokhov MSU for the Humanities became the winner of the contest of support for universities strategic development programs organized by Russian Ministry of Education an Science. As a winner, the University suggests for realization the following key projects, connected with research future of itself:
Institute of Advanced Humanities Research and Technology (IAHRT). Chief Manager – Gibdulin Rustem Yakhyevich.
Mission of IAHRT lies in support of pioneer research works, which are supposed to be a cross-disciplinary integration of humanities and science. Any researcher from all over the world with a degree of PhD or higher are welcomed to take part in the contest.
Rustem Yakhyevich himself emphasizes that comfortable accomodation facilities and all needed conditions for cross-disciplinary work will be provided for researchers. Also they will have an opportunity to visit different seminars and to use all needed equipment for free.
We should mention, that participant selection will be done not by Sholokhov University staff, but by the expert board of Russian and international academicians. Annually IAHRT announces competition for grants by Sholokhov MSU for the Humanities for research programs with duration of 3, 6 and 10 months.

Institute of Humanities Technology in Social Computing (IHTSC)
Chief Manager – Dmitriyeva Oksana Vladimirovna
The aim of IHTSC is training of networking specialists. Activity directions: research, education, applied projects in social computing.
In the research direction in 2012 there was work on the project of internet development study by universities and research institutes from 37 countries — World Internet Project.
Besides this, in the field of education the program for Masters has been created. The students have already started research work, which gives some results.

Creating of new “recommendation systems” on the basis of neurophysiological approach

This kind of work for Aleksandr Sergeyevich is not a novelty. He is experienced in it, for it was he who pioneered in context recommendation systems, which are used by Amazon, Google, Netflix, Facebook and others.
In his opinion, the main problem of recommendation systems is subjectivity and inaccuracy of ratings. This question is resolvable due to creation of objective parameters (markers) of user experience, connected with choosing of an item of goods, and which are based on exact physiological and neurophysiological — theories of analysis and prediction of human behaviour.
In fact, this is the main idea of the developers. Creating of such recommendation systems, which are superior in efficiency to existing analogues is necessary. But to achieve this a lot of research work should be done. The project timeline is 2013-2015. The experts are: Institute of System Programming of RAS, Institute of Higher Nervous Activity and neurophysiology of RAS, Publishing House Simvol Plus.

On the whole the head of Sholokhov Moscow State University for the Humanities, Vladimir Dmitriyevich Netchayev, granted the program of strategic development for the period of 2012-2016, with the University’s mission concluding in development of science, art, technologies and in realization of competitive educational programs in the field of applied humanitites.
Vladimir Dmitriyevich considers, that work research character in the sphere of humanities, technology and social computing is going to enrich scientific field in Russia. He elucidates: “To work effectively means to be able to work with internet and social resources- an individual, a specialist, who cannot use all these things is not a professional.”
All these projects are functioning and not in our University only. Different international organizations and academicians support them. Such co-operation and experience exchange will bring a lot of benefit. Now it’s time to make predictions about the novelties, which are going to appear in contemporary science and education. In any case, it’s better not to waste time, but to take part in the offered contests, to try yourself in science and to make yourself and your research known!
