Environmentalists on Festival of IV Moscow Urban Forum

On December 13, 2014 3rd year students and undergraduates of master program «Ecology of the metropolis» of the Faculty of Ecology and Natural Sciences participated in the festival, which became one of the most interesting events of the IV Moscow Urban Forum.

The daily program was very intensive, we tried to visit and see as much as possible.

We started with a small but informative exhibition on the quest of the Moscow Government «Government and citizens: technology cooperation.» There we acquainted ourselves with major projects and city portals, as well as their functions which simplify the lives of Muscovites, helping them to solve various problems. For example, the portal «Our Town» and the centre of public services «My Documents».

Next we visited the section in where was games store. We really liked the board game «Life without waste.» During the game, it was necessary to answer questions related to waste management, environmental labeling and certification schemes, responsible consumption, and to solve situational questions on one of the topics. The game was exciting that we spent the whole hour!

We also met with a lot of exposure on the improvement of our city and its development plans.

We finished our busy day by watching the film «Just eat it,» which tells about how much food is simply thrown in the dustbin. The main heroes of the film, Jen and Grant decided to spend six months, eating only foods that are thrown out or abandoned for various reasons. At first it was not easy, but then they got so much food that they just do not have time to eat it, and began to share products with other people! The film raises questions about how much extra food we buy and then throw away as much.

After the festival, there were only positive impressions and a lot of gifts!
