Students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and International Communication Took Part in Football World Championship among People with Amputation

The world football championship among people with amputation finished on May, 17th.The tournament is called The world championship cup – The Victory Cup 2012 ,. It it dedicated to the Victory of Soviet nation in Great Patriotic War. During the days of championship students of the Faculty of -Foreign Languages and International Communication worked with athletes and organizers of this great event.

The matches of World Championship among people with amputation were held from May, 10th to May, 18th -in track and field football complex CSKA. The opening ceremony took place on May, 11th , -but volunteers had begun their work much earlier, when footballers arrived to one of -Moscow airports.

Athletes from four continents took part in that championship. Teams from England, Abkhazia, Ghana, Liberia, Iran, Ukraine, Turkey, Uzbekistan and France took part in tournament. Each delegation had their own manager. During the championship volunteers didn’t leave their teams and helped them with accommodation, supported athletes during the games. Our students -accompanied teams, translated and communicated -with journalists with athletes.

Russian sports club Dynamo — Altai won the cup, beating the English team Manchester United in the final. But volunteers are sure that each team is a winner. — —
