Sholokhov Moscow State University for the Humanities keeps on cooperating with a popular author and performer of pop songs – Tomas N`evergreen (Tomas Christansen).
The well-known Danish musician, composer, author and performer of pop songs – Tomas N`evergreen (Tomas Christansen), finalist of contest of “Eurovision 2010” in the end of February, has ran a workshop for pop vocalists on the faculty of culture and music art. In friendly and relaxed atmosphere Tomas has shared the interesting facts from his background, features of composer and performer as the professions, and some other aspects of pronunciation of the English songs with students. Students of the faculty have shown their achievements in performance of pop songs. In his own review on the student`s performance, Tomas has highly appreciated the level of performance of our students, and said his wished their skills would improve. —
The contract was made on effective cooperation of our university and T. N`evergreen. Tomas N`evergreen (the real name – Tomas Christansen, his date of birth – the 12th of November, 1969), is Danish musician, multi instrumentalist, composer, singer, producer.
During the last few years it was impossible to switch on the radio in different parts of Europe, without hearing a hit of the international super star Tomas N`evergreen. The singles “Since you`ve been gone” and “Every time (I see your smile)” were in the first dozen of hit-parades in various corners of the Western Europe for more than a year, and they are still in rotations on the radio.
His début album “Since you`ve been gone” became unprecedented hit, especially in Russia, where it was the headliner of charts, and where hundreds thousands of copies were sold. It`s not so bad for a musician, such as Tomas Christansen, who is known among his relatives and local people only, in Denmark. To approve that cream is always on the top, the album scored its success without any promotion. Tomas`s label “Mega” was purchased by the German company Edel, and the decision was made to stop investment of the album. These news was enough for Jacob Johansson, Tomas`s co-producer and music collaborator, to leave the project.
Tomas decided to continue his further solo activity. He was working hard on the album. Strings were provided with the Budapest symphonic orchestra, while Stevie Wonder`s vocalists were invited for the back vocal. Many-sided gifted Tomas took into consideration Wonder`s idea, and played all the instruments in his super hit “Since you`ve been gone”. John Font Nest, a technician from Los Angeles, who worked at mixing of the album, named “History” by Michael Jackson, also dealt with constraction of the album. You can hear his influence and voice in the album.
Somehow, the 1st single reached Russian lands, while today, the events, which happened later – are already history. Tomas began his music career when he was young, performing for his relatives. He played the homemade striking installation, made of empty paint cans!
Tomas approved success of his debut album with the hits “Just another love song” and “She believes in gold”, nowadays he goes on constant tours over Russia, CIS, Scandinavia and Europe.
In 2010 N`evergreen represented Denmark, his native country in Eurovision in duet with Christina Chanee. The pair reached the final of the national selection tour (Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2010) with the song “In a moment like this”. This led to the 4th place in final contests. The great success of the duet Chanee &- N`evergreen in Scandinavia and Europe led to releasing the joint album in May 2010, and also to the long-time tour in its promotion.
Despite his very busy schedule, Tomas also doesn`t forget about Russia. At the beginning of 2011 N`evergreen recorded one more duet, this time with Russian pop star Christina Orbakayte. The composition, named “A secret without secrets” was written by Tomas in English already two years ago. But then, they decided to sing it in Russian. The video, directed by musician himself, is being shot now. — — — —
