That is just the beginning

Students of SMSUH faculty of journalism traditionally celebrated the beginning of the new academic year in the Central Journalist House.
The guests gathered in a small, but cozy concert hall and were waiting impatiently for the celebration to begin.
Gradually students and graduates, teachers and guests took their places in the hall. Among the guests were: Vladimir Dmitriyevich Nechaev, the rector of the SMSUH, the Doctor of political sciences, professor, Alexey Lvovich Nikolov, the general director of the channel Russia Today , the professor of Journalism and Media education department, Roman Serebryany, the adviser of the chairman of the Union of journalists of Russia, Victor Gusev, the sports commentator of the First channel, etc.
Vladimir Dmitriyevich Nechaev made a speech devoted to the special features of the university and its history, about the future opportunities that our students have after graduating the University.

«Since 2006 we are called Sholokhov University for the Humanities For us this University is a symbol of ideas and dreams. Whom do we mean by Sholokhov? We imagine a young, but the ingenious person, who found a way to prove himself. — And we always declare that we – the most youth university of the country. And in this sense Sholokhov shows that youth can be ingenious and can be talented. And — that is what I wish to all of you. Do not be afraid and do open yourselves.
The university has its goals which we try to reach: since 2008 the University develops and realizes the strategy of its own development till the year 2025. First, we have to become the leader of the country in the field of the state youth policy and the organization of the work with youth. Secondly, we have to become the leader in the sphere of humanitarian technologies.
Why humanitarian? — Because we believe that people is the most important creative and economic force. — Humanitarian technologies take a leading position in this sense, and we want to give them future development.
The main idea of the educational process is a formation of social competence. Nowadays a person has to study a lot, to retrain, to grow and therefore we pay much attention to competence of goal-setting, communication and creativity. These exactly components form the real specialists out of our students so that we are not ashamed and, what is more important, not afraid, to let them go to the real world.
I have a great hope that each of you will find his or her own way in our university».
Then Tatyana Nikolaevna Vladimirova, the dean of Faculty of Journalism gave a very modest and sincere speech which — students found to be very touching:
«People often ask me: «What the journalism faculty is like? — «, and now I want to give my answer.
First of all, the faculty of journalism is the teachers who honestly and qualitatively do their job. — Most of all the quality of education depends on those who leads you on your difficult student’s way. Secondly, our faculty is, of course, the administration. We would not be able to do much without its support. And, of course, our faculty is our students. — And today I say to the students: — hello! — It is very inconvenient to me to speak with you from a scene- you know, I like to communicate with you equally. — I just want you to know that we, the dean’s office team, are always ready to help you out with everything that is in our competence. — Our faculty is not only studies (though we devote much effort and time to them), but also the process of creation. — Be ready for hard and tiresome work because within the first month we will destroy your belief that you know everything and you can do it all.
Now we have two structural departments: the department of journalism and media education headed by Irina Vladimirovna Zhilavskaya, theCandidate of Philology, associate professor — and the Center of multimedia journalism under the sensitive guidance of Anastasia Viktorovna Fefelkina, the graduate of our faculty and the assistant of the Department of journalism and media education».
Later that evening the masters of journalism said some parting words to the students which they soon will see in their classes. Traditionally last year results were summed up with solemnly handing of diplomas . Polina Gromova and Danila Zhilyaev sang sincere songs for the guests. The first-year students in their turn made the music performance.
The concert ended up with the cheerful singing of the faculty anthem, that has already become the tradition.
Should we mention how did the walls of the Central Journalist House shake? And, as first-year students truly noticed in their song — — — it is just the beginning!
