Ethnotheatre «Wervice» of Faculty of Design and Visual Arts at the International exhibition fair «ETNOMIR — masters and crafts»

At the III International exhibition-fair «ETNOMIR — masters and crafts», which was held on 20-21 September, more than five thousand people took part in more than 150 master classes of artisans from around the world.

The fair showcased a variety of handmade folk artists from countries such as Russia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Azerbaijan, India, Colombia, Peru, Africa and the others. Artisans demonstrated their skills, surprising passers-by along the Mira Street. Moreover all wonderful goods that are created right before your eyes here and now, you can immediately purchase from the artists. —

Everything you can do with your own hands: more than 150 master classes been in Ethnomir on each day of the festival, guests were able to try their hand at stamping metal, the technique of decoupage, papier-mache, manufacture of leather and fabric painting, stone carving and inlay. The most popular were unusual lessons as a master class on the artwork in the style of «steam-punk», encaustic, to create paintings in the Japanese technique of «Kinusaiga» or sachets in the technique of «Chirimen craft». —

It is significant that among the masters were many young people. So, the members of the student theatre reconstruction suit of SMSUH «Wervice» made a show of folk costumes and gave master classes on working with felt, weaving, weaving belts, folk doll. —

«Starting with the first course, students of the faculty of Design and visual art study the history, restore, remodel and popularize the richness and variety of folk costumes from different provinces of Russia», — says the head of ethnotheatre docent E.N. Korneeva. —

In the rich collection of «Wervice» there are Kargopol, Nizhny Novgorod, Ryazan, Penza and other costumes that adorn as the festive parade, held on the Mira Street as colorful opening ceremony, where were the singer Ruslan Ivakin (TV «Golos»), Belarusian ensemble «BIFOLK» and for the first time in Ethnomir — Colombian folk artist, Icaro Valderrama.

In addition to the artists, the crowd was also attended by the Ambassador of Bolivia in the Russian Federation Maria Luis Ramos Urzagaste, Deputy Minister of culture and tourism of the Kaluga region Vitaly Anatolevich Bessonov and assistant project Manager «ETHNOMIR» Tatiana Grigorieva. on the second day of the International fair in ETHNOMIR the delegation arrived headed by the Ambassador of India to Russian Federation Mr. P.S. Raghavan.

A rich program included special events. One of them was within the Craft Fair at the Congress hall «Dialogue of cultures» held a Round table on the theme «The preservation and popularization of craft traditions» where craftsmen discussed the necessity of transferring knowledge from generation to generation and the importance of attracting young people to the craft of their ancestors.

Media did not stand aside such a bright event — September 20, the fair was visited by the crew of the Studio «PositivFilm», which took the story about the Ethnomir for TV channel «Cultura» within the television series about the museums of Russia.
