THE OLYMPIAD OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Dear students!

We are glad to offer you an opportunity to take part in the -OLYMPIAD OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE — -(for the students not majoring in English).
A participation in the Olympiad is a wonderful opportunity not only for checking your knowledge and competitiveness but also getting challenged in an intelligent battle to become THE BEST EXPERT OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE AT THE UNIVERSITY!
The Olympiad Winners will get — prizes fromf “Macmillan”, while the winner of the first prize is surely guaranteed an excellent mark in English!!!

The program of the contest

The Olympiad is divided into two stages.
THE FIRST STAGE IS THE SELECTION ROUND
The date of the contest is the 28th of February 2011.
The place of the contest – any place with a computer and the Internet.
Students will take an on-line test. As a result, the participants of the second round will be chosen (the gained scores won’t be counted into the second round).
In order to be tested successfully, you ought to be registered on the website of —www.macmillan.ru -The Access to the test for the students of Sholokhov Moscow State University for the Humanities will be open on the website of —www.macmillan.ru -on the 28th of February 2011, since midday till midnight. To register you should fill in the form thoroughly (your fisrt name, your last name, the name of your University etc.).

The test consists of 3 parts and includes:
1) — — — Listening (you should have speakers or earphones).
2) — — — Reading —
3) — — -Vocabulary and grammar
The test takes 100 minutes. The detailed results of the test (the successful fulfillment of each task) could be seen in the section “My profile” on the website www.macmillan.ru -anytime after passing the test. —
Each participant can be tested only once. —
The lists with students, who successfully passed to the second round, will be published on the University website on the 14th of March 2011. —
The second stage of the Olympic contests – “The Individual championship” will be held on the 25th of March 2011.
