Elena Aleksandrovna Sorokoumova — Doctor of Psychology, Professor of the Department of social and pedagogical psychology of Sholokhov Moscow State University for the Humanities.

12 master’s theses were defended under her advising. Currently E.A. Sorokoumova has prepared to defense three postgraduate students. She is supervising six postgraduate students and candidates, and also she is a scientific consultant of the doctoral dissertation.

For the first time in pedagogical psychology a question of the necessity and possibility of self-knowledge of elementary students through the understanding of yourself in unity with the world, opening way to their further perfection, and later able to create the prerequisites of higher level development of self-consciousness in adolescence is considered. A scientific understanding of the role and meaning of understanding in the process of self-knowledge (understanding, on the one hand, is a process, on the other — the result of generation and interpretation the meaning of personal subjects of interaction and communication) has been concretized. -The value of self-knowledge subjects of the educational process in the development and enrichment of their minds (in the process of self-identity is actively acquiring new knowledge about the world through the actualization of knowledge about yourself, about your place in the surrounding world in frames of active interaction with other people) was described. -A conceptual model of development -of self-knowledge of primary school children in the process of learning and cognitive activity, based on the understanding of the unity of the world image and image of yourself (the dynamic model of self-knowledge of primary school children is achieved through the integration -of the world image and image of yourself on the basis on of generation and interpreting of personal meanings that allow to realize yourself as a part of the surrounding world) was described. Levels of depth of understanding as integrating criteria of self-knowledge (the low level of understanding means understanding only individual fragments of situation and external features as a result of insufficient knowledge and undeveloped skills of evaluate the obtained knowledge about yourself- the middle level means understanding the package of elements of situation, personality traits due to increased demand of generalizing obtained knowledge) were considered. The high level means of understanding of general meaning of the situation due to the ability of summarizing the existing knowledge about the world, other people and yourself) were defined- content of joint creative work of the teacher and pupils, pupil with classmates was defined. —
